Corinthian Lodge #573 F.&A.M.

Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

October, 1998

Dear Brethren:

Autumn is finally here! The leaves are starting to change and soon they will die. The animals are stocking up on food and getting ready for winter. Soon, the weather will be dreary and everyone will want to stay indoors. But not Corinthian Lodge!!! October will prove to be yet another busy and exciting month. First off, we will have our annual Past Masters Night celebration, paying tribute to those men who guided this lodge in the past. Where else can you go and get a catered dinner and a Broadway show for the lady for $9.00? The answer is... Nowhere! Also on the agenda is the cruise to the Bahamas. Add to that our many degree nights. So it cannot be said that Corinthian is not a busy lodge.

You may have heard the officers throughout the year stressing their desire to have 110 men present at the October Past Masters night. I encourage everyone who can attend the meeting to do so, and bring a friend from another lodge with you. Having a large turnout at this meeting will show all of the Worshipful Masters of the past that their hard work was not in vain. Without them, our lodge would not be what it is today.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Senior Warden, Brother Mike Colberg, on receiving his BIG award from Elby's. His thorough investigative skills and detective-like reasoning in cracking their missing statue caper reallv makes him a BIG BOY!

"Sits he on ever so high a throne, a man still sits on his bottom."
Montaigne, 1533-1592

I love this quotation! It shows us that no matter how high an office or a rank someone may achieve, we are all human beings. Maybe we should not be so quick to deify those in power or command.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

William E. Dorner
Junior Warden
